WOW! the Weee man is amazing piece of recycle art absolutely impressive. First impression on seeing it is, Cool!, but Weee Man has a serious message for mankind!, so although on first sight it excites a viewer on a deeper level it is quite disturbing and thought provoking.

The Weee Man was created in 2005 out of household electrical waste
This 3 meter high, 3.3 ton art project was constructed to bring awareness of how much waste an average person in England will throw away in their life time in unwanted electrical goods.
The Wee Man is made entirely out of the electrical waste, the throw away items we as a society send to landfill without a second thought, maybe some of those electrical items needed replacing because it didn’t work any longer fair enough, but in our society we have a very unhealthy obsession of discarding fully working electrical items for the sake of fashion, wanting not needing the latest gadget or gizmo, maybe a new mobile phone as just come onto the market that’s better than the one you brought just a year ago! or you just had installed a brand new kitchen and your old appliances don’t fit with the image of your new kitchen.
Makes you think hard and at 3 meter tall Weee Man is hard to miss how much we throw away without a second thought! how much just one individual throughout their life time will add to our already full landfill sights in the UK. Developed countries have so much to answer for in our throw away society today, it’s just one mobile phone your replacing for a more newer more fashionable electrical item today, but tomorrow it’s filling a landfill that’s just opened next to your home because we’ve run out of space to put our waste. The Weee Man is a dark reminder of our future if we don’t change and we have no one to blame but ourselves.

People complain about having wind farms being erected in our communities, wait until it’s land fill sights! To change our society though isn’t as easy as it first seems a lot of attitudes in society and manufacturing would have to change if you think about it it would even have to change fashion, advertising and even slow the progress of the human race as well as many more deeper affect not just our modern society, but would affect the whole world in one way or another.
The Weee Man is a shocking piece of art and at the same time an amazing human feat that makes you marvel at the ingenuity of the human race the ability to make a huge colossal monument out of technology that in themselves are a wonder that such wonderful items exists.
The Weee Man shows imagination and the technical know how of mankind on so many levels it’s mind blowing
The Weee Man stirs up so many feeling for me – love, guilt, wonder, shame, astonishment, reality, pride I could go on. I would say that the Weee Man at least for me as developed the emotions it was set out to invoke.
If you would like to see the Weee Man in person then he can be found at the Eden Project in Cornwall England.
